On Saturday morning, Liam went out to his garden and picked some veggies for the stew that he would make with Daddy. After that, we went to Family Fun Day at
Day Camp in the Park. We had a great time swimming and boating. We could only stay for a few hours, however, because Liam and Mommy had to get Mommy's bike checked in for the NYC Triathlon, and Daddy had a two hour ride to do.
Sunday we were all up early for the NYC Triathlon, which is an Olympic Distance. Tonia got to swim 1.5k in the Hudson River, bike 40k on the West Side Highway, and run 10k in Central Park. Liam and Bobby did a little sight-seeing before and after the race, and some cowbell ringing during the race.
The Castle in Central Park.
The city closed the West Side Highway to traffic for the race. It was absolutely amazing to be able to ride on this road.
About a quarter mile from the finish. Tonia wasn't feeling so hot at this point. All she could think about was having an orange, and getting a shower. She kept repeating
Resa's mantra, "pain is temporary, quiting is forever."
Bobby and Liam were trying to find Tonia. There were 3,400 triathletes, and their people, in a small area of Central Park. Thank goodness there were courtesy phones for the athletes to use.
Liam was thirsty, and wasn't digging the huge crowds at this point.
Much happier --
ahh, a drink and open space.
