What Has Become the Earth Day Tradition

Bobby sent Tonia out to buy eight new trees to go along one of our fences. After Liam's T-ball game this evening, the boys started planting (that is until one kid had a small meltdown as a result of a very busy day.) This is probably just the beginning...who knows how many new trees will find homes at 46 Carlton Road this year.

Earth Day Words of Wisdom

"What's so special about today? Everyday is Earth Day, isn't it?"
-Liam Noonan

The above quote was uttered when Tonia asked Liam how he would like to celebrate Earth Day. They have been talking about the environment a lot in school lately. A certain six-year-old freaks out now-a-days if sandwiches and snacks are packed in plastic bags. Heaven forbid he gets a juice box. Everything has to be packed in re-usable containers, with cloth napkins, and no plastic utensils please. (I'm thinking, however, that if Coke in a can were to make it into his lunch bag he wouldn't say a word.)

Liam has turned into a bit of a zealot. He pointed out to a couple people in the grocery parking lot that they should be using re-usable cloth bags, not plastic. Mommy had to have a little chat with him about that. Wonder if the kindergartner made an impact on those poor unsuspecting people, or if they thought "children should be seen and not heard."

Opening Day of T-Ball

Today was the Opening Day for T-Ball and Baseball in Orangetown. It is the first year with the new fields (which I might add are beautiful.)

Above, the boys are warming up for the game.

Liam at bat. He was tagged out at first twice, but his third time at bat got a home-run.

Before the game, Liam's coach told me that Liam has a nice "hockey stance" (hmm, wonder where that comes from) -- that is how he waits for the ball.

He made a couple good plays today and was given the game ball. He is beside himself with joy. BTW, note the time, he is still up singing in his bed (the ball may actually be in bed with him.)

The Boys Have Been Busy

Liam has been helping with the kitchen. He has inherited his father's abilities with tools. Mommy isn't as handy -- she just mainly dusts, vacuums and washes up after all their hard work (she definitely got the easier, less time-consuming task.)

Above: some of the new pipes for next yearish's addition.
