Our town put on a cool Halloween Parade. This was the first year they tried this. The whole point was to make trick-or-treating safe for the kids. Those of us who attended thought it was a brilliant idea, and the kids LOVED it.
Above is Liam and Kristen, who was in his kindergarten class and who lives around the corner. She is the girl he informed us was his "girlfriend" last year. He also told me at one point that he plans to marry her if someone else doesn't ask her first.
The police blocked off the street, then a Fire Truck lead the crowd. There was one truck in front and several behind lighting the way.
As the parade moved along, the kids would stop at houses for candy. A lot of families had someone waiting out front to hand the candy out (we had Bobby at that post) -- it was easy to hear the sirens and the kids, and to see the bright lights of the parade approaching.
